Haringey Council needed to conduct an inventory of disabled bays (DBs) in all parts of the borough. The area to be covered was around 40 – 50 miles (65-80km) of roadway in total. The reason ASA was contacted is because of our diligence with Haringey's often complex door drop exercises, coupled with the fact that ASA Distribution utilises GPS tracking technology which they hoped could be used to pinpoint the Disabled Bay.
ASA Distribution was pleased to be commissioned by Haringey Council to deliver the DISABLED BAY SURVEY REPORT INITIATIVE project. We understood the need to extrapolate and catalogue information relating to the disabled bays within the borough and recognise the unique opportunity to be of assistance in the consolidation of this data. ASA’s workforce, technology and renowned reputation for service quality made us best placed for delivering this project.
Haringey required that there be a cataloguing of all disabled bays’ location, photograph and coordinates within the London Borough of Haringey.
We were required to obtain and deliver:
a. The measurements of the disabled bay (length and width in metric)
b. Coordinates of each bay using the centre of the bays as a point of reference.
c. Address and post area (i.e. N8) where each bay is physically located
d. Photograph illustrating the bay
ASA Distribution will deliver a Microsoft Excel Document containing the information as mentioned above. Photographs will be provided on disk with the excel file referencing each bay based on the name of the file.
Time scale from commencement through to delivery is 8 weeks.
Utilising our existing leaflet distributors, we were required cover (by foot) within a 4 week period, every road within the London borough of Haringey.
Coordination, training and organisation was paramount. We walked the streets of Haringey equipped with tools necessary to complete the task at hand. Our Leaflet Distribution experience meant we had the advantage of knowledge for all the areas which needed coverage. As we were based within the borough, distributor could easily access all areas easily and conveniently.
We achieved our objectives and provided Haringey Council with the information requested. Over 2000 disabled bays were catalogued together with their gps coordinates, photo, length, width and address. The information was delivered on DVD and electronic format.
